Good afternoon.  Slept until 2:30.  Wow!  That was almost 7 hours of sleep.  Checked out some stuff on the computer, then ran up to Chick Fil A to get my free sandwich.  I know it is fried, but my stomach handles it just fine.  I cut the sandwich in half, and was full with the first half.  I just love that.

Tried to watch the Rangers game, but it is being delayed by rain.  May go lay down again.

I will check back later, when I get to work.

If you are new to the board, this link explains what the NIGHT WATCHMAN is (if you are interested).  Otherwise, just read on, you will probably figure it out anyway.

Below is one of God's children that definitely need our prayers.  This is one specific cases, we know there are others out there.  Remember them too.

Gina J. - Pray for her 6 year old Marina, diagnosed with a terminal illness at age 2. She has improved, but still needs our prayers.  Pray for this brave little girl

Hi George.

James and I made it back from Galveston about 7pm.   He slept all the way here.......he wasn't feeling good on Friday and I tried to talk him out on continuing through on going this weekend - but he was determined !!     He got worse yesterday afternoon and through the night.   Think it is just a  terrible summertime cold...................so I drove all the way back myself.   :(

Now - I'm ready for bed at 7:42pm.   Not sleeping with my  cpap for the last 2 nights has been a challenge...........so I am just really excited about to sleep and staying asleep.

Not much else to say or to report.............night night all   ((((((((((Huggss))))))))))))))))

Ahhh, the wind-down part of the evening.  I have a  couple loads of laundry to do so someone has some clothes for a tennis match tomorrow!  We took the girls to the courts to get some good practice in for tomorrow's match.  Holy smokes, it was so hot out there.  I felt fine at the beginning but within like 30 minutes started to feel completely drained.  I was so hot it wasn't funny.  I drank water, but maybe liquids were a bit low to start with, not sure.  I don't know how because I drink a ton every day anyway but for whatever reason, it was like someone pulled the plug on my energy level.  I had some soft, flexible ice packs that I always bring to the courts, just in case someone crashes and burns, so put one of those around my neck for a bit, then the ankles, as those are the two places to quickly get the body to cool off.  It definitely worked.  The girls got a great workout and were hitting those tennis balls soooo stinkin' hard, extremely low to the net which made it very hard to return them.  That's EXACTLY what they have to do.  They should do just fine tomorrow.  Win or lose, it doesn't matter, as long as they have fun playing, that's the important part!  We already know V is scheduled to play two matches - one doubles and one singles match, and I think Heather is only slotted to play doubles right now.  She might have a tougher time as the person she is partnered up with has never played with her so that's always a challenge.  I do NOT understand why coaches do that (the other coach did the same thing)!  I mean geez oh Pete, make the decision early enough before the matches so that he can partner up someone and give them a chance to actually PLAY together a game or two!

Alrighty, need to go make sure Sarah is getting ready for bed.  Lunches are done early today (yippeeee!!!) so now just need to go get that laundry going!

Already looking forward to tomorrow night's tennis report.  Glad you knew what to do to cool yourself down.

Great advice on where to place the ice packs.  Always a good reminder in this heat! It works for my dogs as well lol.  I have collar type things for them that have the ice sleeve in it, and when they get really hot, i have been known to dunk paws in water or just pour it straight on to cool them off
Keep us posted on the girls games tomorrow!

Yeah, no amount of water seemed to be enough to cool me off but I swear, within five minutes of using those ice packs around both the neck and the ankles, I was feeling soooo much better!  Paul had even started pouring water over my head thinking that would help.  Sure it was cooler but wasn't near as effective as the flexible ice packs.  I ALWAYS bring those suckers to the court, multiple ones, too, when it is as hot as it is!  Can't wait for this dreaded stuff to stop!!!

Good Evening George,

Jill, thanks for the info on cooling down, I knew about the back of the neck, didn't know about the ankles.  Sending positive thoughts for the girls tomorrow.

Lazy day here, woke up at 7 am, thinking crap, I'm late for work, kid late for school!!  Still have thought today is Sunday instead of Monday, guess I have a bad case of CRS!!  Nothing new here, we have a drama class meeting tomorrow evening, had to send myself a reminder.  They are doing Aladdin, DD is trying out for Jasmine, but really wants to be Aboo...  She does have a good voice, but much better with gestures since Aboo has no speaking parts...(typical teen with the gestures) we'll see what pans out.  She's cool with just being on the crew.

Prayers for all of the spoken and unspoken requests.  Special healing prayers for Meggie, Ramon, Yvonne's hubs, Debra, Debbie T, Annette, Vanessa, the Dunford family, Justin, and all of those that are hurting tonight for whatever reason.

Blessings to all

Yep, always can use the ankles if the neck isn't cooling things down fast enough.  That's one reason why a lot of people have to keep one foot outside the covers - it keeps the body temperature regulated when you have it out like that.  Can't wait for this icky heat to end.  Thanks for the well wishes for the girls.  They were looking SO good today in practice.  I am SO thankful they are both conditioned to play in the heat!  I give them both potassium supplements, too.  That really helps them on not cramping up due to heat, plus they drink plenty of water the day before a match.  I was on Viktoria all night to keep drinking.  She is not a drinker of anything, not even soda, so the lack of ANY kinds of liquids always worries me but she is quickly learning why it is important to water-load the day before!!!  I'll update on how they do tomorrow night!!!
